Terms of Service
Last updated: August 28, 2026
Welcome to The Maternity Guru! These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of https://www.thematernityguru.com (the “Site”), and your purchase or use of any coaching services, digital products, downloadable resources, consultations, or other services (collectively, the “Services”) offered by The Maternity Guru (“Company,” “we,” “our,” or “us”).
By accessing the Site, purchasing a Service, booking an appointment, or otherwise engaging with our content, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site or purchase our Services.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use this Site or purchase any Service. By using the Site or Services, you represent that you meet this requirement.
2. Use of Website and Services
You agree to use the Site and Services only for lawful purposes. You may not use our content, brand, or materials in a way that violates any applicable law, infringes our rights, or harms others.
3. Nature of Services: Not Professional Advice
The Maternity Guru provides coaching, consulting, informational content, and downloadable resources related to maternity leave planning and parental wellness. We are not a law firm, medical provider, mental health provider, financial institution, or HR compliance firm, and nothing provided through the Site, in coaching sessions, in downloadable materials, or in any other communication constitutes:
- Medical advice
- Mental health services or therapy
- Legal advice
- Financial or tax advice
- Human Resources or employment law compliance advice
All content and services are based on personal experience, publicly available information, and general best practices related to California parental leave. You should always consult a qualified professional (attorney, physician, financial advisor, licensed therapist, or your employer’s HR department) for advice specific to your individual health, legal rights, employer policies, or finances. Coaching is not a substitute for therapy, counseling, or legal representation.
4. No Guarantees
We make no guarantees, warranties, or promises — express or implied — regarding:
- Leave approval, eligibility determinations, or the amount of pay or benefits you will receive from any state agency (including the EDD), your employer, or any insurer
- Employment outcomes, career transitions, or how your employer will respond to any communication or strategy discussed
- Legal or HR compliance by you or any third party
- Emotional or personal results from coaching
Benefit amounts, eligibility, and program rules are determined solely by the relevant government agency, insurer, and/or your employer — not by us. Any calculations, estimates, or strategies we provide are for general educational purposes only and are not a substitute for confirmation directly from the relevant agency or your employer. Your decisions, actions, and outcomes based on our content or services are entirely your own responsibility.
5. Laws and Programs Are Subject to Change
California and federal leave laws, benefit programs (including SDI, PFL, CFRA, and PDL), and employer policies change over time, sometimes with little notice. We do not guarantee that any information provided through the Site or our Services reflects the most current law, regulation, or employer policy at the time of your actual leave. You are responsible for confirming current requirements, deadlines, and eligibility directly with the relevant government agency (such as the EDD) or your employer before relying on any information we provide.
6. Confidentiality
Information you share with us during a consultation or coaching session — including income, employer information, and health- or pregnancy-related details — will be kept confidential and will not be shared with third parties, except: (a) with your explicit written consent (such as when you submit a testimonial), (b) as required by law, or (c) as reasonably necessary to provide the Services (for example, through the platform we use to host our scheduling, courses, and contact records). See our Privacy Policy for more detail on how information is collected and stored.
7. Client Responsibility
By engaging with The Maternity Guru, you acknowledge that:
- You are participating voluntarily;
- You are solely responsible for implementing any guidance, strategy, or information provided;
- Coaching is not therapy, counseling, or legal representation; and
- Any action you take (or don’t take) based on our content or services is your own decision and responsibility.
8. Intellectual Property
All content on the Site — including text, graphics, logos, images, videos, downloads, calculators, and service materials — is the property of The Maternity Guru and is protected by U.S. and international copyright and intellectual property law. You may not reproduce, modify, distribute, resell, or otherwise exploit any content without our express written consent.
9. Payments and Refunds
You agree to provide accurate and current payment information and authorize us to charge your payment method as applicable. Missed or late payments may result in paused or canceled access to Services.
Digital courses. Self-paced digital courses carry a 14-day satisfaction guarantee. If you complete the first module and do not feel you understand your leave better than you did before, email us at hello@thematernityguru.com within 14 days of purchase and we will refund you in full. Refund requests made more than 14 days after purchase, or after substantially completing the course, may be declined at our discretion.
1:1 services. Consultations, packages, and other one-to-one services are final once booked, unless otherwise stated in writing at the time of purchase. See Section 10 for cancellation and rescheduling terms.
10. Cancellations and Rescheduling
1:1 sessions and services require at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations or no-shows with less than 24 hours’ notice may be forfeited or subject to a fee, at our discretion.
11. Third-Party Links and Tools
The Site and our booking process may link to or use third-party websites, platforms, or tools. We are not responsible for the content, terms, privacy practices, or availability of any third-party site or tool.
12. Affiliate or Sponsored Content
We may occasionally promote products or services we personally use or believe in, and may receive compensation for such referrals. Any affiliate or sponsored content will be clearly disclosed.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Maternity Guru shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages of any kind — including but not limited to lost income, lost benefits, lost employment, or emotional distress — arising out of or related to your access to or use of the Site, Services, or any content or materials we provide, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
In no event shall our total aggregate liability to you for any and all claims arising from or related to the Services exceed the total amount you paid to us for the specific Service giving rise to the claim.
14. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless The Maternity Guru, its owner, and any contractors or affiliates from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Site or Services, (b) your violation of these Terms, or (c) any action you take based on information or guidance we provide.
15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services shall first be submitted to good-faith informal negotiation between the parties for at least 30 days. If the dispute is not resolved informally, it shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered under the rules of the American Arbitration Association (or another mutually agreed arbitration provider), conducted in San Diego County, California, rather than in court — except that either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies. You and The Maternity Guru each waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action.
16. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
17. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and The Maternity Guru regarding your use of the Site and Services, and supersede any prior agreements or understandings.
18. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date. Your continued use of the Site or Services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
19. Privacy
Please refer to our Privacy Policy for details on how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
